So cool! Tonight, I was invited to talk and share with students in Mrs. Mathew's class who are focused on teaching children with special needs. Wow! They are filled with passion and love - and are so on go! Most of them have nonprofessional teaching experience with these children and are integrating research and hands-on leaning! So fun - to listen to them make connections - and grow-professionally! Technology is making its way into the classroom to meet the needs of these students - Prek-12!
Early on, the students explored classroom technology devices - 'goodfits' for classroom use - recommended (and shared) by the STAR Center! Discussion followed -
We discussed the Three Components to Universal Design:
1. Multiple representations of information
2. Alternative means of expression
3. Varied options for engagement
The discussion continued with components impact of successful teaching and learning in the classroom - and outside of the classroom.
A variety of web tools and iPad apps were explored - for teaching and reviewing skills, assessment.
